CAFO
CAFO - Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations - as defined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is a farm in which animals are raised in confinement—that has over 1000 "animal units" confined for over 45 days a year. An animal unit is approximately 1000 head of beef cattle, 700 dairy cows, 2,500 swine weighing more than 55 lbs, 125,000 broiler chickens, or 82,000 laying hens.
Special Prescription CAFO - is a blend of microbes, enzymes, and nutrients that break down organic waste, ammonia, and eliminate odors. Ammonia levels can become toxic in swine and poultry houses, but with the ability to reduce ammonia levels from over 50 ppm to less than 5 ppm in 5 days, Special Prescription CAFO is a great additive to help manage your barn. Keeping the living areas dry and ammonia levels low helps prevent disease and promotes healthier conditions for the animal and workers.
